1) What is an AU RPG?
RPG → Roleplay Game; AU → Alternate Universe. In short, a roleplay game with an establish fandom that isn't in canon, i.e. a hobby set somewhere other than its given universe, if any.
1.2) What kind of game is this?
This is a supernatural roleplaying game, dealing with supernatural creatures (e.g. werewolves, vampires, etc.) With that being said, please disregard the roleplaying aspect and treat it as a story-telling game.
1.3) What is a story-telling game?
A story-telling game is unlike and not unlike a roleplaying game. It's like one in the fact you are playing under the guise of another person. You will deal in fantastical situations that are up to you, given our guidelines. It is unlike a roleplaying game because, unlike roleplay, story-telling involves writing. You will write. However, unlike your English 101 class for sophomore year, this'll be more fun and not-so-essay-heavy.
In short, this game isn't so much escapism as writing collaborative fanfiction.
2) What do you mean by an Asian entertainment roleplaying forum?
In short, the characters we're playing are actual people. We take on their personas and act as them in the setting provided. In this case, we're working with celebrities, musicans, idols, actors, and whatnot in Asian entertainment.
As for the Asian entertainment part: two rules. This person does not have to be Asian per sé. However they must be in the Asian entertainment industry. For example, you cannot audition Lucy Liu because, while she is of obvious Asian decent, she is predominantly in American entertainment. However, you can audition Jero, an American-born enka singer who is growing in popularity in Japanese entertainment.
3) Can anyone join? What language is this board?
Due to some issues, we'll look at character profiles to see if they can contribute to a story. Not only are we looking for some fun, but we'd like to have civil, literate players. Our dominant language is English. That being said, if you speak proficient to fluent English, you should be good to go.
4) Is this a yaoi/slash/yuri/femmeslash game?
More than likely, there will be some porn. However, due to the trial run of the game, there will be a limit on porn threads. For now, I will trust the users again to see if they're capable of writing a game that doesn't end in a fucking hook-up.
If you do write a hook-up, whoever started the game first edits the first post and types in [NC-17] since it almost always means sexually graphic material. If you want to warn people when the writing gets a little out of hand [some sexuality, gore, descriptive torture] go ahead and edit the first post if you want [most likely, if you're a reputable player, people will read it regardless.]
5) This is a community. Won't there be any strife?
Yes. It's a community. It will happen. Are we going to stop it? Maybe, maybe not; it depends on if it affects the game and community as a whole. Otherwise, we'll take the problem by the root.
6) I want to play. How do I do it?
You suck my dick. Okay, you go and make an intro post, and you ask around for who's willing to play. We're not your babysitters, we won't find someone to play with you; you go do it yourself. The worst someone can tell you is no. If someone doesn't bite, then no one's interested for the time being; be patient.
Another thing to help: very, very nice if you make a board and label it open, meaning anyone can come up to play. In the board, you can clarifying it's a first come, first serve (i.e. first person to post is the only one to play) or it's open to the public (this is a little more complicated and should have an established order. no, we don't have a nifty chatbox for this shit, fffsbeguh.) Likewise, if you want to rp with a specific muse or muses, label it as such, i.e. [A,] [A & B,] [A, B, & C] so on and so forth.
7) Oi! I have a problem with the admin/mod. Y'all should stand down and let us do what we want.
Too damn bad. We know what we're getting ourselves into. We know there are people who probably don't like us, think we're mean; tough shit. Circumstances have happened. Jesi, for example, doesn't take calling out lightly.
8) Hey! A mod PM'd me for doing something. Why?
We have the courtesy of telling you why. Unless you're illiterate (which why in the hell are you here,) you should understand why we're getting on your ass about something. In Jesi-speak: It's stupid people like you that make awesome kids like us not have nice things.
9) How do I apply? Do I have to play a mythical creature?
You will create a mundane account. A mundane account is you, i.e. jesusa's is my mun account. Your mundane account will be for the following uses: auditioning, OOC posts (such as plot development contributions, notes on hiatus, etc,) and for what you do outside of roleplay/writing. With your mundane account, you copy-and-paste the temple in the auditioning board and show us your character sheet. We will review it as a team and determine whether or not you're accepted.
If you are not accepted, you're more than welcomed to try again unless you're ridiculously persistent and give us the same shit over and over again. Then we will sic the wolves on you.
If you are accepted, congratulations and welcome. You will then post an introduction post about who you are, interests, and the muse you play. With that, you will create a muse account and will post as that muse. Please note you will not be allowed to create a muse account until I or one of the global mods gives the go-ahead. I like keeping things orderly.
You are not required to make a mythological creature. In fact, mythological creatures will probably be made extensively. We like humans too. They're fleshier.
9.2) What are we not allowed to post?
One liners, pretty much.
9.3) Can we do solos? What are solos?
Yes. It'd give folks a lovely first-person look into your character. A solo is a short-story post that can be either written as a monologue or narrative that is solely your character interacting with our world and making observations (though it doesn't have to be -that- specific.) Solos will be identified as [solo] so people do not make the mistake of posting responses. You may add an ooc note if you would like people to respond, i.e. comment/critique.
10) What about general writing?
Please refer to 1.3. If you don't get it, please go. If you're curious, like I said, it's like writing fanfiction with a friend/group of friends. If you're interested, please audition. We don't bite; weeding's an obsessive hobby of mine.
In short, the smaller your post, the more frowned upon. However, you don't need to write an obnoxiously huge post. Write something cohesive as a response to your partner; they'll appreciate it.
11) I wanna do something different. Can I collaborate people with an outside service and we post here?
Sure, that's completely fine. An outside service is anything like e-mail or instant messenger to communicate with another player if you want to do a specific type of story (this is very good for those who write more abstract pieces and want to establish the proper atmosphere; it's also good for people to discuss multi-player threads [ones with three or more players] to establish order.)
11) Hey, I auditioned and no one's responded. What the fuck, Jesi?
Give us time. We're either lazy or busy, but it's usually the latter. Give us between three days to a week (depending on traffic) to respond. If you have the audacity to PM us demanding we review/accept your application, I can assure that you will be denied faster than you can say, 'Bitch, say what?'
Further more, just have fun and don't take this so seriously. Ruins it for the rest of us.
12) You mentioned mun accounts for OOC posting. Are there loopholes for this.
The main loophole is if you are posting as your character for a post. Then you do not have to log out and use your mun account for something like a comment, e.g. 'Did I read this right?' or 'Can we call it done?'
13) Why are we allowed only one character?
It's for variety's sake. Many times, claim rpgs tend to get clogged by too many people taking a lot of good roles and not playing them to their potential. You will play one person and only one. Some people play Ruki a certain way; some play him a very different, almost completely opposite manner. People see muses different and play them as such. The interaction will be more interesting.
Admins and mods can continue to add rules~.
