 Non-Human Species [V. 2.0]

Changelings/Shapeshifters

Basic Info:
Changelings are humanoid persons with the ability to change their appearance at will. Some will masquerade as celebrities, musicians, or a different person to their own humour or as a disguise. This causes strife for the Japanese government who wish to exterminate supernatural creatures. Younger changelings have less control over their shapeshifting abilities and have a tendency to sporadically transform. Stronger changelings can manage to change their species, and usually guise as smaller creatures for evasion and larger for defensive or offensive maneuvers. Despite their easy-to-please tendencies, changelings are also known to be keen on manipulation and are quite profecient smooth-talkers.

  • Really, the possibilities for a changeling are endless.
  • When a changeling dies, they revert to their natural form.
  • Changelings have the shortest lifespan of the four. They live marginally longer than humans, but by far shorter than lycanthropes.
  • Changelings sometimes have mentors, if they can find them.
  • Younger changelings tend to be tricksters and use their abilities for petty crimes, such as shoplifting, causing random trouble, and other things to amuse themselves.
  • Older changelings use their powers for their own benefit to protect their identity. An example would be an assassin or a politician.
  • If a changeling shapeshifts into another supernatural creature, they do have their abilities, but at a limited capacity. I.e. if they were to transform into a werewolf, their running speed would be somewhere between a normal human in a domesticated dog (versus a lycanthrope who can run somewhat faster than a standard wolf.) They do not actually become them.

Fay/Fey

Basic Info:
Named the 'Fair People,' Fay are beautiful creatures that can change their fancies on a whim. They're a very capricious lot and tend to hedonistic tendencies, whether for sport or it being benefitial for them. Being the most natural of the four, Fay do not like being around man-made objects such as cars, large buildings, or computers (they have been shown to be technologically inept.) They use natural products (such as plants or fur coats) to neutralize their surroundings and assist as a crutch to make walking around the city more bearable. Fay are very disarming creatures and as such are more welcomed into the society. Most have an aristocratic air around them due to being revered as ethereal. It should be noted that due to their beautiful appearances and the very blatant compliments they receive for them, they are egotistical and prone to looking down on those they consider beneath them. They can easily buy their way out of anything. If a changeling can be compared to a con artist, a Fay can easily be compared to a politician.

  • Fay are by far the most diplomatic of the four. They are very wise creatures that can either be sagely or manipulative.
  • Fay take full advantage of their appearances of grace and elegance to get what they want.
  • Fay, like vampires, need an energy source from a living being (physical contact is a requirement.) That being said, like a vampire, they are suseptible to dying. Unlike vampires, they are much more suspetible to due to elements outside their countrol.
  • Fay are weakened easily by man-made products and hybrid creations. That said, pure metals (such as silicon and lithium) do not weaken them if they are in their natural state.
  • Fay are the ultimate environmentalists. They wear clothes made out of natural products, such as cotton or actual animal fur, versus man-made fabrics (like polyester.) This helps to strengthen them in the metallic-and-neon-covered areas of Sapporo.
  • When a Fay is exposed to a man-made product, they suffer from fatigue/nausea-like symptons, including dizziness and headaches.
  • Fay take fancies to other creatures based on their own selfish whims. They have no regard for anyone's well-being other than their own.
  • Fay predominantly focus on humans. They do not get involves with the politics of vampires and werewolves for they consider it barbaric and beneath them. They aren't above playing with them, however.

Vampires

Basic Info:
Vampires are more oft-than-not regarded as either frightening or beautiful. They vary between ferocious and calm, their age and wisdom adding to their seemingly-endless amounts of charisma and confidence. Vampires are created by being biten by another vampire to the point of death and drinking their blood (due to a pathogen in a vampire's blood.) Vampires, like Fay, are commonly beautiful creatures, despite whatever age they may be (this is exercised in a world-weary outlook and strong social graces) and are able to manipulate people because of their disarming appearances. Vampires live the longest of the four by being immortal (if they take caution in walking in the daylight or stay predominantly nocturnal.)

  • Vampires can walk in sunlight under certain circumstances and under certain precautions. They should wear full body attire (exposing as little skin as possible) and sunglasses (depending on the sun's exposure,) and walk in the shade. These precautions are bendable in overcast and rainy weather.
  • Vampires do not need to sleep in a coffin unless they're very weak and need to recuperate (or if they choose to do so.) Most modern vampires do sleep on an actual bed, and their rooms are kept shaded to avoid sunlight.
  • Vampires are not poisoned by garlic; they're merely repulsed by it.
  • Vampires can be killed with silver and crosses. Crosses if they're in their wounds/an orifice and blessed (considered holy by a clergyman,) and silver in the same manner or injested/injected.
  • On the cross note, some vampires do wear crosses as a fashion statement or the very slim population that are religious. That said, they're most likely not silver (rather titanium, or at the least, pewter.)
  • Vampires, like other supernatural creatures, use glamour/grimoire to appear living to humans. They use this in a variety of situations, such as bars and restaurants (in which they would have to appear drinking and eating,) and in areas of bright (artificial) light that would expose their pale complexions.
  • Sunlight and fire are the only sources of light that can kill a vampire. Artificial light, depending on how bright, can reveal their true, sometimes hideous, appearances, but not actually harm them.
  • Of all the supernatural creatures, vampires loathe werewolves, considering them filthy animals. They're not above torturing or killing them for amusement or the sake of 'cleansing.'
  • There are rogue vampires. A rogue vampire is simply one who has been changed against their will and roams the earth without a master. There aren't as many rogue vampires as traditional [roughly one for every ten.] These vampires are not the same as ones with deceased masters.
  • Vampires do commit suicide when they feel they've overstayed their welcome or feel their use is non-existent. Their most common methods are stabbing themselves with a silver object (a pointed crucifix or pure silver knife) or walking into the sunlight without proper protection.
  • Vampires can avoid death from blood loss if their limbs are intact and they are able to find a source of blood.
  • Vampires do not sparkle. They are not walking diamond rings. Have a muse with that will have you be laughed out of the game.

Werecreatures

Basic Info:
Werewolves are persons who are transformed into a stronger, more violent version of a wolf at a certain time of the month (commonly the Full Moon; there are breeds who transform at the New Moon, Waning Crescent, and others.) Humans become werewolves when bitten by another werewolf who is in their wolf state (so no, being bitten by a werewolf who is currently human does not count.) Due to the wolfish nature of their condition, they're more prone to being anti-social, untrusting, and very cautious. At their stage, they're more wild and will attack when provoke. Werewolves have incredibly painful transformations in which their body struction bends and constructs itself to more animal like with a hunched back and comfortability of walking on all fours, and some with the inclusion of a tail. Some people have claimed to have met werewolves with the ability to speak (in very few, sometimes unintelligible, phrase.)

  • Werewolves are weak to silver. Pressing silver to their flesh severely burns them; they must actually ingest/inject silver into them in order to die.
  • If a werewolf has a serious injury, they maintain it in their human form. They also maintain it in their next transformation until it heals in the proper alloted time. In short, your character will not have a broken leg as a human and perfectly fine as a wolf; it's either broken or fine consistently.
  • They remain in their animal state from dusk to dawn (about ten or twelve hours.) Werewolves are partially aware of their surroundings, and do remember bits and pieces of their romps. If they're traumatic enough, they remember almost an entire episode.
  • No werewolf has an easy transformation. Their body is forcing them to extend a tail and walk on four legs and grow body hair at a fast rate, along with shoving their organs in different positions; it's going to hurt.
  • Some werewolves take precautions if they do not wish to roam and want to stay inside, such as having cages. Others run far into the woods to rampage and transform in peace (if you can call it that.)
  • Werewolves share similar sentiments towards vampires. They consider them pompous aristocrats with a superiority complex (Fae tend to be kinder to werewolves due to their animal connections.) Like vampires, they are not above outnumbering a single vampire and tearing them to shreds.
  • Werewolves, much like actual wolves, are either loners or hunt in packs. Those that hunt in packs are either close friends or an alliance; those who hunt alone tend to view packs are weak-willed and scared.
  • Due to their affiliation to wolves, werewolves, even has human, do have markedly higher strength than a standard human, particularly in their jaws, biceps, and calves.

Relations

A general tl;dr of supernatural relationships

Changelings:
Changelings: Changelings are loners; there are very few groups, gangs, or alliances of changelings to head towards a common goal. Very few changelings reveal themselves to each other, and less than that know of others like them.
Fay: Enjoy harassing Fae. They find their reactions humourous and some are more than willing to use street smarts against book smarts. They use their sharp skills to manipulate Fay by complimenting and flattering them.
Human: Love confusing them. They are pleased at how easily they can interact with humans and not have to take precautions.
Werewolves: Like vampires, they love to pick on werewolves and call them 'puppy,' 'mutt' and other terms to harass them. Some changelings are more than capable of fighting a werewolf.
Vampires: Like humans, have an inherent fear of vampires. Vampires easily feed on them. They generally stay out of their way.

Fae
Changelings: Find them a nuisance. Though the smarter ones provide a good challenge as to who can manipulate who.
Fay: Fay are more willing to commute with their own species. They are the equivalent to high-society humans, every one of their activities exclusive and lavish.
Humans: Are their prime source of enjoyment, sex, and life source. Using their good looks and even better social skills, they can have a human do virtually anything for them. It's not uncommon for Fay to have several lovers to keep a consistent flow of life source.
Werewolves: Have some werewolves as pets, usually indebted to them for saving their lives. Fae drain them until they're dead.
Vampires: Generally do not mess with vampires. They prefer battle of the wits amongst the undead fare. They cannot kill vampires due to them being undead. They can be killed by them.

Werewolves
Changelings: Accidentally bite them, thinking they're humans. Changelings use the werewolf saliva and change themselves into a werewolf formidable enough to their opponent. Regard them as humans.
Fay: Are indebted to Fae for showing supposed kindness to them. Are easily enslaved by them.
Humans: They either act like monsters or wolfish to them. If they are starved, will just as soon hunt humans as wild animals. If more wolfish, do tend to run into fields and brush to escape possible poaching. This is toned down as a human.
Werewolves: Werewolves are both human and wolf in that they're a social breed, usually. Some will remain alone, but most tend to flock towards groups. Like wolves, they do have ways of initiating alpha male, alpha female, and the like in groups.
Vampires: Will fight a vampire as a wolf. Some are bipedual (i.e. a lycanthrope) or quadrapedual (a larger wild wolf.) Varying strengths depending on their deserpation, hunger, and general gutso. Packs have displayed a certain pleasure in tearing a lone (sometimes weak) vampire limb from limb.

Vampires
Changelings: Feed on them just as quickly as humans.
Fay: Establish a very unsteady co-existence. They will go into battle of the wits, preferring to outsmart the very egotistical Fay. They feed off of each other's megalomaniac tendencies. However, they're not above killing them if they go after prey they are interested in.
Humans: Their chief prey and playthings. They will manipulate humans to do their bidding and makes themselves nearly impossibe to be ignored. They prefer feeding them in private quarters or in exclusive fueling stations, where humans are unwittingly lured in to be torn limb from limb.
Werewolves: Despise them. They consider them no better or more intelligent than a domesticated dog. They disregard them as filthy mongrels and are unwilling to associate with them. They will also eat them. They're not above mocking them (to the point of being cruel.)
Vampires: Vampires, like Fay, easily associate with their kind. Unlike Fay, they are much more territorial of their prey and are not above using their teeth and claws to establish territory.
